Group Therapy: Divorced, But Can I Still Be Friends With My Step Mom
It’s was something that a lot of us have gone through at one time or another, but a guy got divorced from his second wife, however, his daughter still wants to be friends with her step mom.
This was the dilemma in Group Therapy this morning on The Mike & Carla Morning Show! Now hear us out, the guy confessed that he had cheated and that was the reason for the split.
However, his 18 year daughter still wants to be friends with her step mom. This is where it gets a little dicey…the father said no way! Again, keep in mind, he cheated, but doesn’t want his daughter to be friends with the ex.
After Being Divorced, Can You Still Be Friends With Your Step Parent
According to an article from Good Therapy, that talks about this very same thing, it depends on the motive. Why do you want to remain friends? Do you really and truly like that person? Have you developed a relationship with good intentions?
These are questions that popped up in the article and on The M&C Morning Show. To be honest, the dad was NOT getting a lot of support here.
One thing you should know is that the daughter is 18 years of age and off to college. She is clearly her own person and can make up her own mind for the most part.
Advice from Mike O’Brian, who has had a few “ex’s” in his time, said he would be fine with it as long as his daughter and the ex step mom kept him out of it.
Oh, the other thing, is “don’t throw it up in my face!” Other than that, Mike said he wouldn’t care either way. Keep in mind that the guy cheated, so he really didn’t have a leg to stand on at this point in time.
But as always, listen to the segment from this morning and you decide!
