It’s So Hot In Las Vegas (Insert So Hot Joke Here) — And It’s Not Letting Up
Happy July in Las Vegas. It’s the most not wonderful time of year. The temperatures are in the one hundred and teens, and it’s not coming down much anytime too soon.
It’s So Hot In Las Vegas We’re Poaching Eggs In Our Pool
It feels like an air fryer. Even the pools aren’t cooling us off, and it takes 10 minutes to get cool water out of the faucets. Honestly, there’s not enough powder for your soft parts and wobbly bits in Las Vegas this time of year.
No, we do not have the humidity in Las Vegas that other parts of the country have, and thank God for that. The problem in Las Vegas is, it doesn’t really cool off at night in the summer. As I write this at 3:30 am. it is 90 degrees outside.
We had our first 100 degree in Las Vegas on May 28. And we have soared well above that, even tying and breaking our high temperature over the weekend.
It’s So Hot In Las Vegas We Just Might Go To Hell To Cool Off
On July 6, around 3:30 in the afternoon, Las Vegas tied its official record of 115 degrees, which was originally set back in 1989, according to the National Weather Service. On July 7, at around 4 in the afternoon, Las Vegas hit 120 degrees setting the all-time high daily temperature, according to NWS. This broke the previous record of 117 degrees. By the way, about 200 degrees in your car.
Those temperatures are National Weather service records, of course. Living in Las Vegas, we all know it’s even hotter than that in many parts of the valley. We have thermometers, too.
It’s So Hot In Las Vegas Even the Ovens Are Jealous
Las Vegas is under extreme heat warnings. Warnings that, as of now, are continuing through the week. Doesn’t look like we will see undrew 110 degrees for another week or so.
It’s hateful. But at least it’s “a dry heat.” Yeah – whatever…
Areas near and around Las Vegas are feeling it too. These cities hit their all-time highest recorded temperatures on Saturday:
- Death Valley, California: 128 degrees (previous record of 127)
- Barstow, California: 117 degrees (previous record of 115)
- Kingman, Arizona: 109 degrees (previous record of 108)
- Bishop, California: 108 degrees (previous record of 105)
So what do we do in Las Vegas? Drink lots of water, and complain. Come on, SEPTEMBER!!
