Seal Prevents Australian Woman From Leaving For Work
Amber Harris was doing her daily routine to get ready for work, but that was instantly foiled by an elephant seal.
How Long You Planning On Napping?
Harris walked out to head to work, but noticed a 1,300 lbs. elephant seal passed out behind her car. The Tasmanian woman said she woke up to the sound of “Somebody breaking into my car” according to ABC Hobart. Amber looked out her window and didn’t see any damage, but instead, Neil looking at her. Neil is the name of the seal the locals gave him. Neil is tagged and monitored by the marine conservation. Locals are used to seeing Neil on their roadways and beaches.
Neil the Seal is so popular, they created an Instagram page for him.
Amber tried to get into her front door of her car, while she was doing so, Neil decided to take a nap in front of her car. Harris tried to leave but couldn’t. She even called her boss and told her job she was having trouble getting to work. When she mentioned the trouble was Neal, her boss thought it was funny.
She has no problem with Neil hanging in front of her place, but she didn’t know how to deal with a seal that is on her front lawn. She talked to a marine conservationist and was told that Neil will most likely be on land for about three weeks to a month. He will eventually move on his own.
Why Did He Pick Her Specific Lawn?
Harris told ABC that she lives across the road from the beach. She told ABC, “I have no idea why he’s chosen my front yard, but he’s welcome to stay as long as he wants.” Neil’s stay didn’t last long though. He ended up leaving Harris’ yard a few hours later.
