Man Steals $600,000 Ferrari And Crashes Into Four More
I guess everyone would probably like to take a joyride in a Ferrari at some point in their life. But it takes guts – or a lot of drinks – to do it this way.
This is like a big “bull in a china shop.” Except the china was luxury automobiles, and the bull was some guy who’d had way too much to drink.
A guy in Salt Lake City got arrested after he drank all day, then broke into a Ferrari dealership, stole a $600,000 car, and crashed it into four more Ferraris on his way out. A 29-year-old Salt Lake City man, named Michael Martinez, did some major day drinking last weekend, and decided to break into a Ferrari dealership.
He got into the showroom by smashing a big glass window with a rock. Then he found a $600,000 Ferrari that happened to be unlocked, found a set of keys in the center console, and decided to steal it. I mean, why not, right? The keys were right there!
He apparently drove it through the big glass wall, and hit four other Ferraris on his way out. Here’s a photo of what the showroom normally looks like. Now picture is with a lot of broken glass.
According to police, he caused $100,000 in damage to those four cars. And obviously the Ferrari he stole got pretty banged up too. It’s not clear how much total damage he caused, but the Ferrari he stole was priced at around $600,000. So yeah – a LOT of damage…
They found him nearby, walking away after he abandoned the car. He told them the whole thing was “spur-of-the-moment” and that he’d been drinking all day. He’s facing charges for theft, burglary, and property damage.
Listen, we’ve all done some stupid things, but this is REALLY stupid!
