If you've been living in Las Vegas for any length of time, you know that the traffic signals are not very cooperative. Well, if you're driving around this weekend, here's a few traffic signal hacks for drivers! According to a recent report out of L.A.'s at Nexstar's KTLA5, these are hacks that might be universal. The good thing is that you might be able to use these at times since the lights don't seem to be synchronized as in other cities.
Driving around Las Vegas has been a hassle for a lot of people for a long time. Many of us who have lived here for a long time, still hoping one day that the county will get these traffic lights on a program that make it easy to get around.
Now, whether you know it or not, some traffic lights run on timers. This comes in handy especially when there is a special event...a hockey game at T Mobile or at Allegiant Stadium. For example in Minneapolis, there are set patterns for lights during a Twins baseball game or before and after a Timberwolves game. Sounds easy right?
The Two Best Traffic Light Hacks!
The two best hacks as you drive around are very simple and you might already be aware of. If you get to a traffic light that's red and it just doesn't seem like it's changing anytime soon, PULL UP A LITTLE! The reason why? Most traffic lights with sensors have wires buried in the pavement called "induction loops,". Who knew right? And believe it or not, you have to be right on top of them. Now this "loops" can be a little sensitive, so if you pull up too far, it won't work!
The other simple hack, just start FLASHING YOUR HIGH BEAMS! Quite a few traffic signals have cameras or infrared sensors instead. Just by flashing your high beams you can actually trigger the sensors.
Boom! There ya go...just remember, these might not always work, but you never know. Just be careful driving!

In fact, we've all notice how more and more people moving here. For locals, you have to keep your head on a swivel! With all of us from all over the country, we all have different driving styles. That might be a reason for a lot of the problems on the roads. But that still doesn't change the fact that driving throughout our city you really have to pay attention!

Tips To Help You Drive In Southern Nevada
As crazy as it might sound, it just doesn't happen today, but it also happens around the spring equinox in March as well. Here are a few things that can help . . .
1. Windex the outside AND inside of your windshield. There's a lot less glare when it's clean.
2. Keep sunglasses handy. It's not summer anymore, but you still need them. Polarized sunglasses work best.
3. Slow down. The sun can still momentarily blind you, even with sunglasses on. And keep in mind that other drivers might be struggling too.
Now if you are new to Vegas, you'll notice right away how bad traffic can be and how drivers, who come from all over the place, bring those specific driving skills from where they're from and think everything is just fine. Well, guess what? Driving does get a little hectic around the valley and depending on where you're headed, a few areas you just might want to avoid as you get used to the traffic here.
