Woman Thinks She’s Helping Former Journey Singer
Now day’s, people will do anything to scam someone! And sometimes they will take advantage of those who are not quite knowledgeable. They’ll even play with their emotions to get them to cave in to their demands. That’s what happened to this 73-year-old mother.
Lori Goodpaster said her mother started to talk to someone online. Her mother is lonely so the scammer used that to their advantage. Her mother thought that she was dating former Journey singer, Steve Perry!
The scammer told the woman that he needed financial help because all of his assets were frozen. They told her it had to do with a court case in California.
Goodpaster learned that her mother was a victim of a romance scam! Her mother ended up sending money to the person. Later they found a post on the official Steve Perry Facebook page warning people of scammers pretending to be him and asking for help. Steve Perry assured all his fans that he is financially ok and his assets are not frozen!
As for Goodpasters mother, they’re unfortunately at a loss for what she sent. But police were called and offered to help her mother and teacher more on these romance scams which they said has a total of $547 Million in total that has been scammed from people.
