What Clique Were You A Part Of In High School?
High school years were spent learning but also hanging out with friends that you had same interests in. Cliques were a thing you couldn’t avoid! There were the jock cliques, the cheerleaders, the nerds, the loners, and more! And whether you liked it or not, you were a part of one and you might not even know it!
A recent poll was taken on high school cliques and the results are pretty interesting! The started by asking what cliques actually existed in their high school. They then asked them questions about the existence of the cliques and how to get in with that certain clique.
The result showed the obvious, jocks/athletes were the top of the named cliques. The popular kids if you will. Other popular groups according to the people polled, were cheerleaders, nerds, band and choir students, loners, and of course, the stoners! About one-fourth of the students surveyed said preppy kids, snobs, rich kids, overachievers, and geeks. And about one in five said they remember being either a theater person, art person, a redneck, religious kid, a rebel, or a hippie!
The older group polled had different results than current students in school. Americans who are forty-five years old and older are more likely to say the main cliques in their day were in fact jocks/athletes, popular kids, and cheerleaders, but much less likely to say that goth, emo, and skater cliques existed. Today’s students are the complete opposite. The polls shows that those popular cliques of the past are less. Jock/athlete cliques aren’t as popular.
When askes specifically what clique they were a part of, majority of them said Loners. Also a high number of them said they weren’t sure.
