Nevadans Love To Relieve Stress By Playing Video Games
Gaming is by far the most popular method for Nevada residents to relieve stress. That’s according to a recent survey provided by Interventional Pain Management and Ortho-Spine Center.
Basically, they looked at the number of Google searches involving the name of a hobby. For example, activities such as “gaming,” “gym,” “gardening,” or “fishing,” just to name a few from their list of over 75 hobbies.
They compiled data from each state, and a national list of popular ways to relieve stress. Gaming topped the list in Nevada as well as for the entire U.S. Here in our state, playing video games averages over 53,000 online searches each month.
Our fellow residents are also searching online for lots of other methods to relieve stress. Activities such as football (#2), gym (#3), kayaking (#4), and camping (#5) round out the top five most popular searches for ways to chill.
Personally, one of my favorite ways to relieve stress is playing ice hockey. I’ve been playing both roller hockey and ice hockey in Las Vegas recreational leagues since the late 1990’s.
Another way I like to relieve stress is by playing word games and puzzle games on my phone. Word Stacks and Wordle are two of my favorites.
America’s Most Popular Ways To Relive Stress
As I mentioned earlier, gaming is by far America’s favorite method of relieving stress. Average monthly searches amount to over 4.4 million, more than doubling the second-place finisher nationally.
The runner-up spot belongs to kayaking, believe it or not. Over 2.1 million monthly searches throughout the United States each month. Rounding out the top five are gym (#3), football (#4), and basketball (#5).
Some of the least popular ways to relieve stress according to this survey are motorcycle restoration, racquetball, home brewing, stamp collecting, and bird watching.
