We’re #1! Las Vegas Named Best City For Taco Lovers
Fifty years ago, many Americans had never heard of or even tasted a taco. Now, they’re one of the most popular foods in the U.S.A. So, which city is the best for taco lovers? You guessed it: Las Vegas!
Las Vegas Named Best U.S. City For Taco Lovers
The great thing about tacos is they’re so easy to eat. Another thing taco lovers enjoy is the wide variety of fillings for those corn or flour tortillas. Carne Asada, fish, carnitas, veggie, and plenty more.
So, how does Las Vegas earn the prestigious title of King City for Taco Lovers? The folks at Betway.com conducted a study just in time for Cinco de Mayo weekend.
The Betway Insider looked at data for U.S. cities with the most taco restaurants per 10,000 people. They also consider information regarding the number of top-rated taco restaurants for each city, as well as the average price of a taco.
Taco Lovers: Here’s Why Las Vegas Wins The Title
With all things considered, Las Vegas wears the crown as best U.S. city for taco lovers. One of the main reasons is we have over 2,000 taco restaurants throughout Southern Nevada. That averages out to 31 taco joints per 10,000 residents. Easily the most for any U.S. city.
However, we don’t have the cheapest tacos. We’re paying $4.23 per taco on average. Taco lovers looking for the cheapest tacos should head north to Boise, Idaho. They must be filling those tacos with their famous potatoes because their tacos are a dollar cheaper.
Moreover, the Betway Insider article also found out that Albuquerque, New Mexico has the highest-rated taco restaurants. Out of the 736 taco establishments there, 127 are rated four stars and above.
That averages 17%, whereas Las Vegas averages out at 10%. That’s probably because we have so many more taco restaurants than Albuquerque.
These U.S. States Have The Most Taco Lovers
Moreover, the survey results on Betway.com show that Texas and California are the U.S. states that seem most obsessed with getting their taco munch on. They determined that by the number of internet searches for phrases such as “tacos near me.”
As you might expect, tacos are not as popular on the east coast as they are out west. Newark, New Jersey has the fewest number of taco restaurants per 10,000 people. Taco lovers will want to avoid this city because there are only 106 restaurants there. And only 2% of those are rated four stars and above.
Furthermore, taco lovers in Bridgeport, Connecticut are stuck paying the highest average price for their favorite food. A taco there costs an average of $8.67! My goodness, those better be huge tacos.
