Chuck E. Cheese Rolling Out New Grown-Up Menu This Week

The Chuck E. Cheese franchise has always been geared toward catering to children. I mean, their slogan says it all. Where a kid can be a kid. It's pretty much the O.G. spot for birthday parties and arcade games. Heck, I even remember going there when I was a kid. Back when there were multiple characters besides good old Chuck. And they weren't out dancing on the disco floor. They were robots stuck to platforms and moving and singing on their own. It was truly the stuff of nightmares.

Nowadays it's live show with a guy (or girl) in a mouse suit who comes out once an hour to dance with your kids. On an interactive dance floor, no less. So the franchise has improved over the years. But their menu has always looked like something put together by my 8-year old. Pizza, pizza and more pizza. And a salad bar so they can say they gave kids a healthy option.

Yes, there is still pizza. Multiple options, in fact. Even a create your own option. Plus three flavors of meatballs, and two options for wings (boneless or bone-in) and lots of sauce choices. There's an appetizer sampler (move over, Applebee's) with wings, cheesy bread and french fries.

And the thing that is going to get a LOT more parents in the door. Wait for it...Beer and wine. Both are now available at certain locations. Which is very smart. Because it would be difficult for some parents to last more than a few minutes in an environment of unruly children without having some sort of adult beverage to numb the pain.

Las Vegas wind has been crazy this year! So we've been taking our outside fun into indoor playgrounds.

Just a few weeks ago we saw a windstorm with gusts over 80 miles per hour. Damage was done to power lines that left a lot of the city without power for several hours. Other residents had to repair fences and replace trees due to the wind damage.

April is usually marked as the windiest month in Las Vegas, with the "wind season" typically being between March and July. So it's no surprise that we are dealing with it now. Our temperatures, on the other hand, are about 10 degrees lower than what's typical this time of year.

And now, the Las Vegas valley is under yet another wind advisory. This latest one goes until about 7:00 Sunday evening. Meteorologists are predicting 20 to 30 mile per hour winds coming from the southwest. With gusts 30 - 35 miles per hour and up to 40 in some places.

On a weekend when the kiddos need to get some bottled up energy out, being inside isn't always fun. A windy day is a great time to get out with a kite or model sail boat. But if you or your little one suffers from allergies, you're not going to want to be outside on a windy day.

Higher winds kick up pollen and other allergens that can cause some unpleasant sneezing, coughing and watery eyes. Experts suggest those with pollen allergies stay inside when it's windy. And even if you or the kids don't have allergies, dust in the eye isn't fun for anyone.

Here's the good news. Las Vegas has a lot of great indoor play areas for kids. Some mellow with a few slides. Others decked out with climbing walls and trampolines.

Ball pits, slides, and all kinds of things to climb on. They also have a lot of tables to enjoy their menu options. Those include burgers, chicken, salads and pizza. Located at 7460 S. Rainbow Blvd, Unit 130 in Las Vegas.

They were a "Best of Las Vegas" gold winner in 2020. This place is great for parents to get something done while the kids play. They have a café and work station with Wi-Fi and free charging stations. For the kids there are interactive toys, slides and a separate area for toddlers. They have two locations: at the Cheyenne Commons shopping center in North Las Vegas and the Galleria Pavilion in Henderson.

Always a good choice because it combines the physical fun of an indoor park with the learning of a science museum. Their water world exhibit is always a favorite. And try not to get lost in their multi-level jungle gym.

We go to this one a lot. Z loves the climbing wall and giant trampolines. I love the parent's lounge where I can chill on a couch and get some work done. They also have a separate area for the little kids. Only complaint is they don't have hot food or coffee. Come on, people! Parents need coffee! :D

Located at 27 S Stephanie St in Henderson. There is one in Las Vegas, but it doesn't have reviews as good as this one.

Locals are saying it's one of the cleanest indoor playgrounds in town. They offer inflatable slides and jungle gyms, air hockey and other toys. And a good menu for snacking. Located at 4549 Blue Diamond Road in Las Vegas.

This place is located at 1525 Sunset Rd #7 in Las Vegas, right across from the airport. So you can look out the window and see the planes land. It's not a huge facility compared to some others. But it does have lots of slides and jungle gyms for the kids. There's also a lounge for the parents and tables to eat at. Their food offerings include pizza and snacks and coffee. 

There's a ball pit, train set, dollhouse and other toys specifically for younger kids. They only take kids up to 6 years old. So it's good for the littles that don't want to get stepped on by the big kids. Down side is that they're only open until 6pm and closed on Sundays. Located at 9330 W Sahara Ave. Suite 110 in Las Vegas.

Ball pits, slides and jungle gyms are found here, like other indoor playgrounds. But this one also has costumes and playhouses for younger kids to play with. And a separate area for toddlers to crawl their wiggles out. Located at 9890 S Maryland Parkway Suite 12 in Las Vegas.

Lots of places for little ones to climb around in. Plus a ball pit and slides. Located at 4215 S Durango Drive in Las Vegas.
