Well they do say life is too short…but a 104 year old woman broke a record before passing away. Dorothy Hoffner had just turned 104 years old and loved to skydive. The Mike & Carla Morning Show wanted to make sure and get this story out. Knowing her love of the sport, her friend Joseph Conant thought if she did it one more time, she would actually break the record for skydiving at 104.
So without hesitation, Dorothy headed out to do the jump and set the record. According to an article put out by Legacy.com, Dorothy had already skydived at the age of 100. She loved it and did it because she just thought it was fun. Not knowing that her final jump would get her all this notoriety!
104 year old woman sets new record for skydiving!
According to an interview she did with the Chicago Sun-Times, “…there’s nothing scary about it, it’s nice and peaceful!” The video of her actually breaking the record went viral earlier in the month. Fans were amazed at the spunk and courage this woman had. To do this at the age of 104 was truly amazing. Living in a assisted living facility, the people there took to heart her love of skydiving.
These are the people that had a big hand in making her dreams come true. Dorothy had worked for Illinois Bell Telephone Co. for the longest time, but now it was time to live! Imagine living that age and just doing what you want to do. How we all say that life is too short…make the most out of it! Well, to Dorothy, she definitely did that. A great example for all of us.
The sad news comes that 4 days after making her final jump Dorothy did indeed pass away. At her facility, passing away peacefully in her sleep. She clearly led a great life and took advantage of all the opportunities to do the things she wanted to do. Defying the odds of age and just living!
