When Las Vegas locals hear the phrase "going pink", it usually means something else than it does this weekend.

Las Vegas goes pink every October to raise awareness for the American Cancer Society. During the entire month, you'll see people everywhere donning pink clothing and getting involved in the fight against breast cancer. The Las Vegas Motor Speedway, the famous Welcome To Fabulous Las Vegas sign and more landmarks also get involved by turning their lights pink. And that is still coming from October 1 through October 31 of this year.

But that's not why you'll see pink lights on the Strip THIS weekend.

The reason Las Vegas is going pink this weekend is far less serious, and far more about the world of pop culture. This display of pink lights you're seeing is there to welcome BLACKPINK to town. They are the South Korean pop group that has taken over the globe with hit songs like How You Like That and Kill This Love.

And they are visiting Las Vegas for the very first time this weekend for their concert at Allegiant Stadium. They'll be here as part of their Going Pink North American World Tour. The concert will be held Friday, August 18 at Allegiant. And considering these girls are racking up more than 1 billion views for their videos on Youtube, locals not going to the concert might want to avoid the area.

And even though the show is tonight, the pink has been going on since last Wednesday. When the Welcome To Fabulous Las Vegas sign kicked off the celebration. Then, on Thursday, many other landmarks joined in. Including the Eiffel Tower at Paris Hotel & Casino, the High Roller at the LINQ and parts of Harry Reid International Airport.

The Luxor Hotel & Casino, Mandalay Bay, and the STRAT are also participating, according to News3LV. There are even photo ops happening around Caesars Palace and a Scavenger Hunt at AREA 15.

So, if you're seeing pink in Las Vegas, now you know why. It's cause we got BLACKPINK in our area. - Wendy Rush, 96.3 KKLZ
