Another Local Establishment Closes It’s Doors
It happened over the weekend, another local establishment closed it’s doors for the final time. After 26 years on Paradise Road, Gordon-Biersch shut the doors for one last time.
It opened in 1997 and was a favorite lunch and happy spot for Las Vegas. GB would feature “live” music, comedy and more at times. It had a great staff. It was the best place to stop in after work if you lived or worked in the area.
According to a recent article in the Review Journal, Gordon-Biersch would go through 30-50 kegs on a Friday night! Now keep in mind that when Gordon-Biersch opened back in 1997, there weren’t as many bars on the strip. Of course now a days, the boulevard is lined with walk-up bars taking attention away from those places on the outskirts of the famous Las Vegas Strip.
“You Wanna Go Where Everybody Knows Your Name!”
As we had mentioned earlier, the staff was great, the food was good and we all had our favorites. The “garlic fries” at GB were the best. They might have stayed with you all night…especially with the garlic, but they were awesome!
And if you liked beer, this was the place to be. You could sample it all. They would even throw an annual Oktoberfest that served up thousands of customers each year! Once again featuring “live” music, celebrities stopping by…it was an amazing event.
But even more important that all that, it was just a great place to meet up with your friends!
But as we move forward, more and more of our favorite places and fading away! If you’ve lived here for any amount of time the list is getting longer! Carlo’s Murphy’s, The Stake Out, and Captain A’s all on Maryland Parkway. The Moby Grape on East Tropicana and you can include Botany’s on East Flamingo as well. Tramp’s, The Brewery and more…all local hot spots that have gone by the wayside.
It’s not easy losing one of your favorite hangs. We take it to heart and just move on, but just like the places mentioned above, there were good times at Gordon-Biersch! Thanks for the memories!
