VIDEO: Pat Benatar’s “Dancing Through The Wreckage”
Pat Benatar sings and dances her way through a new video, “Dancing Through The Wreckage,” taken from one of two new songs she’s released so far this year.
The anthemic song comes from the documentary Served Like A Girl, about female veterans’ struggle to re-enter civilian life after serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. The video features Benatar performing the song intercut with footage from the film.
Benatar’s husband and guitarist Neil Giraldo wrote the song with Linda Perry, and Benatar says,
“It’s kind of a midtempo song. It’s another kind of…it’s kind of atmospheric. It’s not a big rocker…[4.20ish] It’s a great project. The film has screened in New York, Los Angeles and Austin, Texas, and will be shown in other cities during the coming weeks.
Benatar’s last album, Go, came out during 2013, and she and Giraldo released another song, “Shine,” in January.
Giraldo tells us the couple will likely have more in the near future, too:
“Patricia and I are working one w songs as well. I’m constantly writing everyday. I kind of overwhelm her with stuff ’cause I have a bit of ADD, which I’ve had forever. But I’ll hand her a song idea and I’ll give her about five minutes to start working on it, then I’ll say, ‘Wait a minute, I have another idea I want you to listen to…’ She kinda says, ‘You gotta get out of her. Just give me one idea and come back in a day or two…'”
