Flu Vaccines Are Available Now
As autumn approaches, so does the cold and flu season. The Southern Nevada Health District now has this season’s flu vaccine available to the general public at their various clinic locations.
Now, I know the subject of flu vaccines can become a topic of heated discussion. I am not here to tell you what you should do regarding your health practices. That is ALWAYS your personal decision. I am just letting you know the flu vaccine is available now.
You should also know that this information is NOT about CoVid-19 vaccines. SNHD is encouraging all Southern Nevadans, age 6 or older, to get this season’s updated vaccine before the flu begins to spread. According to 8NewsNow.com, flu vaccines are updated each year because each flu season is unique.
If you or someone you know is over the age of 65, the health district says it is even more important for these folks to get this season’s vaccine, especially if they have underlying conditions such as heart or lung disease.
Per 8NewsNow.com, “it takes approximately two weeks after vaccination for antibodies to develop and provide protection against the flu.” Although you can get your flu shot at any time, SNHD recommends you get it early.
Vaccines are currently available by appointment at these Southern Nevada Health District locations:
Main Public Health Center; 280 S. Decatur Blvd.
East Las Vegas Public Health Center; 2950 E. Bonanza Rd.
