It is hard to believe the FDA had to release this warning, but they are advising all of us NOT to accept the dangerous media challenge of cooking chicken in Nyquil.
This bizarre recipe and challenge recently went viral on Tik Tok. According to thesource.com, the “Sleepy Chicken Challenge” is actually very dangerous, and potentially deadly. Even if this challenge was meant as a joke by the folks who posted it, there is always the danger that people, even kids, might try it.
Per thesource.com, the Feds go on to say that “cooking the medicine makes it more powerful and can change its properties,” and “inhaling the vapors during the cooking process can cause lung damage.”
Some of these social media challenges that have gone viral have caused serious injuries in the past. Remember the “Milk Crate Challenge” last year? Folks were stacking milk crates in a pyramid and then climbing them as if they were stairs. Tik Tok eventually banned that viral challenge after people were seriously injured.
I’m not saying social media outlets or viral challenges are always a bad thing. But, not everyone uses their common sense. If everyone did use their common sense, we probably wouldn’t need so many warnings on every product we purchase so the company selling that product can avoid future lawsuits.
I guess “common” sense isn’t so “common” after all. Don’t accept every challenge, even if they “triple-dog dare ya!”
