Details About The 'Back To The Future' Musical
The musical opened on Broadway on August 3, 2023, playbill.com reported, and instantly became a smash hit. According to kennedy-center.org, it has already won several awards. Including the 2022 Olivier Award for Best New Musical, four WhatsOnStage Awards, and the Best New Musical Award from Broadway World. And from the trailer, we can see how much detail was put into making the stage production look exactly like the movie.
There's a reason the musical is so close to the film. The stage adaption was done by the film's original creators, Bob Gale and Robert Zemeckis. And even more talent joined the team with award-winning composers Alan Silvestri and Glen Ballard doing the original music.
Silvestri did the music for the film trilogy and is known for many more movie soundtracks. Including Forrest Gump, Polar Express and the Night at the Museum trilogy. Ballard is most known for his album productions, including Michael Jackson's Man in the Mirror and Alanis Morissette's Jagged Little Pill. Per kennedy-center.org, there will also be songs from the original film. Including “Johnny B. Goode,” “Earth Angel,” and Huey Lewis's “Back in Time" and “The Power of Love."
All of our favorite characters from the movie will be in Back To The Future The Musical. Lorraine Baines, George McFly, Biff Tannen, Principal Strickland, Goldie Wilson. And, of course, everyone's favorite car.

The North American Tour of Back To The Future, The Musical will have a different cast than the original Broadway show did. Per the tour's website, Doc Brown will be played by Broadway alum Don Stephenson. And Caden Brauch will be making his national tour debut in his performance of Marty McFly.
The show will run on select dates from Wednesday, October 23 through Sunday, November 3, 2024. Get more information and grab tickets at thesmithcenter.com.

2024 Billy Joel And Sting Tour Is Pure Magic
The Billy Joel and Sting tour has officially kicked off. And shows are already selling out for the two Rock & Roll Hall-Of-Famers. The tour started in February at the Ray James stadium in Tampa, Florida. And is coming to Las Vegas's Allegiant Stadium for one night only on November 9th.
Billy Joel And Sting Tour Is A Co-Headlining Show
The upcoming tour is a co-headlining one. Meaning neither musician is opening for the other one. Instead, they will each have their own set to do their signature hits. However, that doesn't mean we won't see Joel and Sting singing together. Video captured from their Tampa show confirmed that. Joel introduced Sting to the stage and the two sang the Police hit "Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic" together.
Billy Joel and Sting are both far from strangers to sharing the stage with other famous musicians. According to concertarchives.org, Joel has done shows with Sheryl Crow, Lionel Richie, Jon Bon Jovi, Olivia Rodrigo, and Gavin DeGraw, all within in the last five years alone.

Sting's supporting guests for certain shows include both One Republic and Blondie. Neither has shown up for the co-headlining tour with Joel. But this video shows that Shaggy has already made an appearance. He performed "Englishman In New York" with Sting at the Tampa concert.
What To Expect From The Billy Joel And Sting Tour
So far the tour has seen Sting opening the show, ultimateclassicrock.com reported. His set includes 16 hits from both his Police catalog and his solo work. Thus far, Joel has been the second performer of the night. With an impressive run of 24 hits for his set.
Sting will most likely continue to join Joel on stage during the second set, for a collaboration of "Big Man on Mulberry Street". He did so at the Tampa show, and has performed the song with Joel before. Sting was the surprise guest at Joel's Madison Square Garden concert in 2014.

That video makes me hope that they will do more collaborations for the upcoming tour. Though it's not been the case so far. Since it is a co-headlining tour, it's possible the two musicians will trade off in terms of who gets the first and second sets. And speaking of sets, here's what to expect from the shows.

Billy Joel And Sting Tour Setlists
Police's Hits
Four of the Police's album are represented on the upcoming setlist. From their 1978 Outlandos d'Amour album, there is "Roxanne" and "So Lonely".
From their 1979 Reggatta de Blanc album, you can expect "Message In A Bottle" and "Walking On The Moon".
Besides the collaboration with Joel on "Everything She Does Is Magic", the only song on the setlist that comes from Ghost In The Machine is "Spirits in the Material World".
Two of the three most popular songs from the 1983 Synchronicity album are on the upcoming setlist ("Wrapped Around Your Finger" being the third). The two you can look forward to at the concert are "King Of Pain" and "Every Breath You Take".
Sting's Solo Hits
Sting's debut solo album, Dream of the Blue Turtles, was released in 1985. About a year after the Police's official break-up. The most remembered song from that album is "If You Love Somebody Set Them Free". Which is the only song from this album on this tour's setlist.
In 1993, Sting released Ten Summoner's Tales. It had many hits that are still very popular. Four of which are on the upcoming setlist. You can look forward to "If I Ever Lose My Faith In You", "Fields of Gold", "Shape of My Heart", and "Heavy Cloud No Rain" at the show.
Completing Sting's solo hits on this setlist are two from his 1999 Brand New Day album. The title track and "Desert Rose" will be the two you can expect.
Billy Joel's Hits
Like all of Billy Joel's concerts, songs for this setlist are coming from Joel's entire catalog. From his earliest hits to his most recent one.
Joel's early hits will include the title track from 1973's Piano Man, and "New York State Of Mind" from 1976's Turnstiles. Four songs from his 1977 album, The Stranger, are on the setlist. Including "Movin' Out (Anthony's Song)", "Scenes From An Italian Restaurant", "Vienna" and "Only The Good Die Young". From his 1978 album 52nd Street, the setlist has "My Life" and "Big Shot".
Joel's second decade of hits will be represented with five of his albums. We can expect four songs from his 1980's Glass Houses album. Including "Don't Ask Me Why", "Sometimes A Fantasy", "It's Still Rock and Roll to Me", and "You May Be Right" with the Led Zeppelin interlude Joel has done at previous shows.
"Allentown" will be the only hit from Joel's 1982 The Nylon Curtain album. From his 1983 album An Innocent Man, we'll get "Uptown Girl", "The Longest Time", and the title track. The Sting collaboration on "Big Man on Mulberry Street" is the only hit on the setlist from Joel's 1986 The Bridge album. And two songs will be included from Joel's 1989 Storm Front album: "The Downeaster Alexa" and "We Didn't Start The Fire".
Only one song is on the setlist from Joel's 90's repertoire. That would be the title track from the 1993 The River of Dreams album.
Anyone who has been to a Billy Joel show won't be surprised by the extras the performer has on his upcoming setlist. Including covers of the Rolling Stones' Start Me Up and the Tokens' "The Lion Sleeps Tonight". As well as the opera aria "Nessun Dorma" that has highlighted fellow singer and pianist Mike DelGuidice in past shows.
But what fans haven't already seen at a Billy Joel show is the musician's latest single. From his 2024 album of the same name, Joel will be performing "Turn the Lights Back On" at the show as well.
