Alabama Woman Avoids Bullets From Drive-By Shooting, Using Viral Lil Kim Dance

A woman from Alabama found herself and child in the middle of a drive-by shooting and to avoid being shot, she channeled her inner Lil Kim to survive, according to multiple sources.

Avoiding Death With Specific Lil Kim Dance Moves

Shariah Taylor was outside of her apartment complex when she heard gun shots. She said she heard about seven gun shots, according to TMZ. Her instinct was immediately to protect her daughter and herself. What did she do? She went into full on dance mode.

Taylor started to do a dance a lot of people have seen before to avoid being hit. She channeled her inner Lil Kim and started to do the dance Lil Kim does in the song “Quiet Storm.” The dance went viral after Lil Kim performed the song and dance at the BET Awards. The song is a popular song done by Mobb Deep, a Hip Hop group from Queens, New York.

What Does The Dance Consist Of?

According to WTVY News4, she said, “So I’m dodging, I’m ducking, I’m dodging, I’m ducking, doing my ‘Lil Kim.'” 

The dance became more popular when people started using the dance as GIF images or memes. Shariah said she did all she could to avoid being struck by bullets. She got her daughter in the back seat of her car and then drove off, according to News 4.

We’ve all heard the saying “Hip-Hop Saved My Life” where people take the lyrics of a popular song they love, and use those lyrics as a guide to better their life or save it. In this instance, Hip-Hop literally saved Shariah and her daughter’s life. Well, not the lyrics but the dance moves of Lil Kim.

Taylor said to news outlets that she doesn’t feel comfortable at the place she lives in. This incident probably will cause her to move. She said a woman was shot the week before in her complex. The main thing is her and her daughter are safe.

On The Mike & Carla Morning Show, we ran down the list, but more importantly, M&C wanted to know the songs that got you up to dance. No matter where you might be and that even included work, the store or even in the car.

According to an article put out by CISION, 22% of us will dance at least once per day. Now keep in mind, we’re talking about when a song comes on, that might include even a little shimmy move at work at your desk. It could be at home while cleaning or even, as we said before, shakin’ and movin’ in your car!

“I gotta dance…it just makes me feel happier!”

The good news here, according to the article is that 82% of us feel it’s a form of release. Further more, 79% of those surveyed said it just makes them feel happier when they get their dance on! A less than that said that moving around the floor can turn a bad day into a good day! So, if you hear your song, go ahead and dance like no one is watching.

Having said all that, what is the song that gets you in the move to shake it up a bit? Found out that there were quite a few titles that came to mind. One listener mentioned Earth, Wind, & Fire’s “September”.  Another listener went back a few years and mentioned Shannon’s “Let The Music Play” does it for her.     This has to be the #1 song to get people moving, whether it’s dancing or just acting out the letters of this song. You could be deep in conversation and without skipping a beat, you hear this song and it just happens naturally!

  • "Stayin' Alive"

    We think this makes the list, not only is a great dance song, but everyone knows the dance from the movie. Everyone putting their finger high in the air going from one direction to the other. It’s a natural dance song that even hard rock bands have covered just to get people dancing…ha, ha, ha!

  • "Despacito"

    Again, another song where it doesn’t matter what version to hear…it just has that rhythm that makes you feel like you might have the moves! And you know what? There’s nothing wrong with that…what do they say, “…dance like nobody’s watching!”
