Group Therapy: Do I Report Neighborhood Kid To Police
It was just one of those mornings when it came time for Group Therapy, do I report the neighborhood kid to the police…for ripping off packages from my front door?
It came up this morning on The Mike & Carla Morning Show as another segment of “Group Therapy” got together to give advice to another local couple.
The wife emailed the show saying that a local neighborhood kid was ripping off packages from their front door. The kid is caught red handed on the Ring doorbell system. The husband confronted the kid and he totally denied that it was him on the video.

So, now the husband wants to go to the parents of the kid and confront them. On the other hand, the wife doesn’t want any trouble. She is willing to just let it go!
Well, there ya go…that’s the dilemma. What would you advise this couple to do? Right off the bat, Mike O’Brian said that if you went to the parents first and nothing happened, next step is the cops. Tried to be civil and a nice guy about the whole thing, but clearly, the apple doesn’t fall to far from the tree.
A lot of listeners agreed, but then there were a few with other ideas. One being, hold some of their packages hostage and attempt a “package exchange”. What, like at high noon in the middle of the street?
Others thought they should start laying out packages with dog poop in them or dirty diapers for a while. Until the kid finally learns his lesson.
One woman suggested that it might be a cry for help. The kid was doing what he was doing so that maybe someone would notice and get him help. Not too many people bought that, but a different perspective on the situation.
If nothing else, Quora outlined some things you might want to know on how to handle catching a porch pirate in the act.
Nonetheless, it made for a great conversation this morning and hoping that some of the advice helped.
