Las Vegas Strip Wins The Gaming Revenue Crown For 2023
When it comes to gaming revenue, the Las Vegas Strip reigns supreme. Once again in 2023, this famous street’s occupants pulled in way more cash from gamblers than any other gaming location in America. In fact, the Strip reports the highest year-over-year revenue gains in the nation. That’s according to the latest report from AmericanGaming.org.
Nevada Places Four Gaming Hubs In America’s Top 20
Without a doubt, the Strip had a great year in 2023, logging a 7.2% increase in gaming revenue over 2022. Las Vegas Boulevard casinos report over $8.8 billion dollars in gaming revenue in 2023. Not only did the Las Vegas Strip easily outpace the number two gaming location of Atlantic City, New Jersey, but Nevada also places three other gambling hubs in the U.S.A.’s top 20.
For example, the Boulder Strip took the 10th spot in 2023, reporting over $973 million in gaming revenue. Furthermore, AmericanGaming.org shows the Reno/Sparks area in 13th place. Our neighbors to the north report $911 million bucks in gaming revenue, which is relatively flat over 2022. Finally, Downtown Las Vegas ranks 17th, up 3.1% at $811 million in gambling receipts.
Here’s How American Casinos Are Raking In Billions In Gaming Revenue
The AmericanGaming.org report goes on to show that gaming receipts are rising nationally too. In fact, America’s casinos raked in a record $66.5 billion dollars in 2023. For instance, traditional “brick-and-mortar casino slots and table games grossed a record $49.4 billion in 2023.”
As you might imagine, sports betting revenue is way up. Now that sports betting is legal in 37 states and the District of Columbia, casinos across the nation are reporting record sportsbook revenue. Per the AmericanGaming.org report, total handle is up by close to 28%, and sportsbook revenue is up by a whopping 44.5%.
Finally, the internet gaming sector, or iGaming, is also showing major increases in 2023. There are six states with legal online casino gambling, and their gaming revenue shows gains of close to 23%.
Younger Gamblers Are Fueling The Increase In Gaming Revenue
It is interesting to note that the average age of casino patrons continues to decrease. Before the pandemic hit at the end of 2019, the average age of casino visitors was close to 50 years old. That average age has dropped every year since. For 2023, the average age of our nation’s casino patrons is 42 years old, per AmericanGaming.org. So, it seems the gaming industry still has a very bright future.
