Two Nevada Resorts Putting Love Back Into The Community
Many casino resorts in the state of Nevada have reputations for taking money from tourists. But two resorts in the Laughlin area are actually giving back to the community this holiday season.
The Aquarius Casino Resort and the Edgewater Casino Resort recently wrapped up their 12th Annual Silent Christmas Tree Auction. Both resorts in Laughlin, Nevada participated in the community event, which ran from Saturday, November 18 through Wednesday, December 20.
During the event, both resorts held a silent auction for special Christmas trees. Which were on display in the Aquarius Casino lobby. The nine trees were beautifully designed with various themed-decorations. Including festive lights and ornaments. Themes included Winter Wonderland, All About Christmas, Sweet Treats, Mrs. Claus’ Kitchen, A Vintage Christmas, Bear Jamboree, Route 66, Under the Sea and Patriotic. The trees could be purchased outright for $1850. Or bid on, with a starting price of $400. Through the sales of the Christmas trees, both resorts were able to help local food banks in the community.
Both the Aquarius and the Edgewater then participated in their annual Feed-A-Family program. Through the program, both resorts donated one box of holiday food for every 25,000 True Rewards Points earned by players at the casinos. Each box was sized to feed a family of four for the holidays.
Through both the Silent Christmas Tree Auction and the Feed-A-Family program, the resorts raised $13,600 for local food pantries.
Including ACS Food Bank, BHC Homeless Youth Program, Colorado River Food Bank, Cornerstone Mission, and Food for Families. Golden Valley Family Resources, Havasu Community Health Foundation Food Bank, Isabel’s Pantry, and Kingman Food Bank were recipients as well. In addition to Mohave Valley Food Pantry, Nana’s Pantry, Needles Community Partners, Set Free Church and St. Vincent de Paul.
Last year the resorts raised $13,250 for the Feed-A-Family program. Which fed 530 families in the Laughlin, Nevada community. And this year they were able to help even more. Showing the community the true meaning of Christmas. -Wendy Rush, 96.3KKLZ
