Facebook Is Still Re-connecting Old Friends
It’s what it was setup for in the beginning…connecting people. And every once in awhile, Facebook is still reconnecting old friends. You either notice someone you knew or just type in their name to see what they’re up too.
Then the decision of should you try and find them? Should you reach out to them? Would they remember as well? The same thing happened on The Mike & Carla Morning Show. But that’s what M&C wanted to know…what happened the last time your reached out?
While talking about your best summer job, Mike O’Brian mentioned his summer as a social director at a resort in Michigan. It was a great job, a lot of fun and during that time, he met someone. When Carla Rea prompted Mike to search for on FB, there she was.
What Happened The Last Time You Reached Out To An Old Friend On Facebook?
Now the question, does Mike reach out to her? Why? What for? Clearly she’s married with kids and Mike is as well. What good would it do? It was only for a week and almost 50 years ago! Would she even remember Mike? You reach out to someone who might not even remember you just to say “hi”?
Well, as it turns out, that’s what M&C wanted to know this morning. Have you done it? What happened? Were you glad you did it? Needless to say, the phone and text lines blew up…and a couple of calls we really didn’t expect to get.
One woman talked of a time, after losing her mother, that a bunch of fellow students befriended her. By chance, she noticed one of those former students on FB and reached out. After connecting, she told him what his friendship meant to her through this troubling time and wanted to say “thank you”. Not realizing how much this meant to her or not even knowing what she was going through at the time, he was totally amazed by the re-connection.
So in the end, there’s something to be said on “re-connecting” with those we knew back then. Will Mike end up reaching out…not really sure, but the segment is worth listening to if you’re undecided!
