Las night the Vegas Golden Knights took on the Tampa Bay Lightning in Tampa Bay.
The game had a bunch of scrums. Players on both teams started getting chippie. Despite all the one on one scrums that happened, none of them compared to the giant scrum that happened in the third period. With about 7:44 minutes left in the game, Keegan Kolesar cross checks Pat Maroon of Tampa in the back. Maroon turns around and socks Kolesar right in the mouth! From that point on, players from both teams jump in to support their teammates.
Gloves, sticks, and helmets littered the ice. Players start throwing punches and dog piling each other. At one point four players are being dragged across the ice like a train!
It took the refs almost 3 minutes to break up the the multiple fights happening! Kolesar and Maroon were chirping each other and taunting each other to continue fighting.
After long deliberation, the refs just did the simple thing…threw out all players on the ice. A total of ten misconduct penalties were handed out…five to the Knights and five to the Lightning. Maroon threw the punch, and that ended up putting the Knights on the Power Play!
Tampa Bay ended up tying up the game 3-3 in the final minutes of the game, causing overtime! The Vegas Golden Knights would go ahead and win the game when Jack Eichel shoots at the net, Vasilevskiy misses the puck and it starts to slide into the net. Before he could stop it, Alec Martinez of the Vegas Golden Knights dives towards the net and nudges the puck in the back of the net. The Golden Knights end up winning it in overtime 4-3!
