Magic Johnson Has Been Very Busy Since Retiring From The NBA
Magic Johnson is not only an NBA Hall of Famer, but he has become a very successful entrepreneur. Since retiring after the 1999-2000 NBA season, he has become involved in sports franchise ownership.
In 2012 he became a co-owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Per Summers’ article on UNLV.edu, he’s also co-owner of “the WNBA’s Los Angeles Sparks, Major League Soccer’s Los Angeles Football Club, and eSports franchise Team Liquid.”
Besides sports franchise ownership, Magic Johnson’s entrepreneurial ventures include the EquiTrust Life Insurance Company. Plus, there’s the African-American television network ASPIRE. Moreover, he is a leading investor in “minority-owned technology companies,” per Summers’ article.
So, not only has Magic Johnson conquered the NBA, he’s also conquered the business world. In addition, Johnson is also a philanthropist. The Magic Johnson Foundation does quite a bit of work in supporting HIV/AIDS programs.
His foundation’s charity work also supports the Taylor Michaels Scholarship Program. They provide college scholarship funds to “students from underserved communities.”
Without a doubt, when it comes to basketball or business, Earvin “Magic” Johnson certainly knows what he’s talking about. And now, you can hear him speak on both of those subjects at UNLV on April 18th.
