Many Nevadans Are Going Sober Right Before St. Paddy’s Day
For many Americans, St. Patrick’s Day is a day for celebration. Likewise, for many adults, that means sipping a few green beers. Or maybe downing a shot of Irish whiskey or two. However, a recent survey shows that many Nevadans are going sober right before St. Paddy’s Day.
Nevada’s “Going Sober” Online Searches Rank In U.S. Top 10
In fact, Nevada ranks in the top 10 in searches for going sober. Obviously, cities like Las Vegas and Reno cater to partying. So, it stands to reason that there are residents who may not drink responsibly. After all, many bars and taverns are open 24 hours a day. I bet you can find a dozen bars or taverns within five miles of your home. Unfortunately, drinking too much alcohol happens all too often in Nevada.
With this in mind, the folks at BeHappyGoLeafy.com decided to see which U.S. states’ inhabitants are searching online for ways to go sober. (Note: BeHappyGoLeafy.com sells kratom. According to DEA.gov, kratom is listed as a Drug and Chemical of Concern. Neither Larry Martino, 96.3 KKLZ, Beasley Media Group, nor anyone associated with these entities is recommending or promoting the purchase or use of this substance. Happy Go Leafy is just the company that is providing this study’s information.)
As it happens, over the past 12 months, Nevadans average 403 online searches a month per 100,000 residents. That places The Silver State in ninth place in this study. They use search terms such as “quit alcohol,” “sobriety,” “stop drinking,” and “12 steps of AA.” As a matter of fact, a total of 47 similar terms are under consideration in this particular study.
Other U.S. States Searching For Ways To Give Up Alcohol
To be honest, there really aren’t any surprises in this study’s rankings. All the states in the top 10 have cities or regions where people travel to celebrate and party. Florida ranks #1 with an average of 630 searches for going sober per 100,000 residents. Our neighbors to the south in Arizona place second, averaging 520 online searches.
Additionally, we know “everything’s bigger in Texas.” Apparently, so is the drinking problem, as The Lone Star State ranks third with 512 searches per month. Rounding out the top 10 are North Caroline (#4), Massachusetts (#5), Illinois (#6), Delaware (#7), New York (#8), Nevada (#9), and Colorado (#10).
