$2 Billion For Nevada Schools Proposed In New Bill
There is currently a bill being considered by Nevada legislators which could end up bringing $2 Billion dollars in funding to our state’s schools and education system.
According to an article written by Sasha Loftis on 8NewsNow.com, Assembly Bill 400 (AB400), “The Education, Achievement, Opportunity, and Accountability Act,” is being backed by Governor Joe Lombardo. The four main elements of this bill address issues which concern many parents and educators. The 8NewsNow.com article lists these elements as: “school choice, early childhood literacy, accountability, and teacher pipeline.”
One of the main elements of this bill concerns school choice. The bill proposes that a city or county would be allowed to sponsor a charter school. There would be an “Office of School Choice” established. And students would be allowed to attend schools outside of their normally required “zone of attendance.”
Another important element of the bill addresses the need for more qualified teachers throughout the school systems in the state of Nevada. The proposed bill would create The State Teacher Pipeline Account and the Nevada Teacher Advancement Scholarship Program. These programs would provide funds for students training to become local educators, and the opportunities for pay raises for teachers already in the state’s school system.
There are also provisions in AB400 which require students to achieve certain standards before being promoted to the next grade, and provisions for the retention of pupils in the same grade. Per Loftis’s article: “The proposal would also provide scholarship funding for families under the federal poverty threshold.”
If this bill passes, it would not only mean big changes for the state’s education system, but also for the Clark County School District.

Who Helped You With Your Homework?
Did one of your parents help you with your homework when you were a student? Did you have a tutor? Did you do your homework with classmates who would help each other?
Well, nowadays, there are plenty of websites and apps which offer free help to students who are having trouble completing their homework. One of those websites, Brainly.com, recently sent me a press release about a study they conducted to determine which states’ students need the most and least help with their homework assignments.
The results? Well, there’s good news and bad news. The good news: Nevada did not make the top 5 in any of the categories they highlighted for lowest scores. The bad news: Nevada did not make the top 5 in any of the categories they highlighted for highest scores either. The Silver State did rank #8 out of the fifty states in the U.S.A. for needing the most help with homework.
According to the Brainly Staff who gathered, wrote, and published the results of this study, some of our neighboring states fared much worse. For example, Arizona had the lowest high school graduation rate. New Mexico shows up with the lowest math test scores. And California claims the honors for the state with the largest high school dropout rate.
You can see which states made the top 5 in categories such as: lowest/highest high school graduation rates, lowest/highest high school dropout rates, lowest/highest math test scores, lowest/highest college attendance rates, lowest/highest reading scores, lowest/highest test anxiety rates, and more information, by CLICKING HERE.
Here are the top 5 states in which students need the most help with their homework, according to Brainly.com.
