Mr. Piffles, Magical Las Vegas Chihuahua, Dies Right Before Birthday
Mr. Piffles, the chihuahua sidekick to Piff the Magic Dragon, has died right before his 17th birthday.
According to a Facebook post from Piff the Magic Dragon, “For over fifteen years I’ve had the privilege and the pleasure of being upstaged and outshone night after night by that little ball of fluffy indifference. He came into my life when I had nothing, and set me on the path to a career I could only dream of. In the beginning, I may have rescued him, but in the end, he rescued me.”
The post ended with Piff saying “I love you so much Mr Piffles.”
There hasn’t been a confirmed cause of death. But Mr. Piffles was 16 years old. The average lifespan for chihuahuas is 10-to-18 years old, according to Daily Paws, a pet-centered publication.
The Journey of Piff the Magic Dragon and Mr. Piffles The Chihuahua
The start of this journey begins with Piff, whose name is actually John van der Put, and the British comedy scene.
According to 8 News Now, Piff met Mr. Piffles in 2009. During that era of Piff’s life, he was getting started with his stage persona and developing his act. But, he needed another layer of sparkle to captivate the audience during his set. His publicist was the one who suggested that Piff should bring up a chihuahua during his comedy set. Piff ended up bringing a random chihuahua to the stage. But the lady who ran the venue owned that particular chihuahua. So, Piff decided to find his own chihuahua.
Piff ended up buying a chihuahua from the Scottish version of Craiglist, which was the start of a long career between the two.
“According to Piff, Mr. Piffles wasn’t a friendly dog at first. But he did have star quality,” 8 News Now reported.
After creating the persona of Piff and Mr. Piffles, the animal-and-human duo ended up competing on the 10th season of “America’s Got Talent,” which propelled them into fame. The duo made it to the final round. But they didn’t win. However, the pair did become mainstays at the Flamingo after the show propelled them into stardom.
Channel 3 reports that Mr. Piffles the Second will take over Mr. Piffles’ spot in the show. Mr. Piffles the Second is a 2-year-old “genetically identical clone.”
To celebrate the magical chihuahua’s life, the Flamingo will have a special ceremony on Wednesday, Nov. 13 at 5 p.m. The property will also open a dog-friendly space called Mr. Piffles’ Magical Playground.
