UNLV Rebels Hire New Head Football Coach
Just over a week after firing Marcus Arroyo, the University of Nevada, Las Vegas announced on Tuesday that they have named Barry Odom as the UNLV Rebels new head football coach.
According to an article written by Ana Gutierrez on 8NewsNow.com, Odom is fresh off of a three-year stint as the associate head coach at the University of Arkansas. Before that, he spent four seasons at his alma mater, the University of Missouri, as that team’s head football coach. He started off his coaching career in 2000 after becoming one of the University of Missouri’s all-time top ten linebackers.
Per a press release from the university, Odom will become the 13th head coach in the history of the UNLV Rebels football team. Per Gutierrez’s article, university President Keith E. Whitfield stated: “We have high expectations for UNLV Football, and Coach Odom is a proven leader who will help elevate our program to new levels of success. It’s a great pleasure to welcome the Odom family to our university and Las Vegas.”
UNLV is still on the hook for the remainder of former head coach Arroyo’s contract to the tune of about $2.3 million dollars. He coached the UNLV Rebels to a 7-23 record during his three-year tenure at this school. During the interim between Arroyo’s dismissal and Odom’s hiring, associate head coach and linebackers coach Kenwick Thompson was in charge.
It looked like things might be turning around for the UNLV Rebels football team and former head coach Arroyo when they started the 2022 season with four wins in their first five games. However, they went on to lose the next six consecutive contests. They finished up their schedule with a big win against arch rivals, the University of Nevada, Reno on November 26th at Allegiant Stadium.
We’ll have to wait and see if Coach Odom can post a winning record in 2023. We sure hope so!

Overall, this is a great have and a really solid tech product for college students.
Wireless Computer Mouse
I truly do not know how I survived college only using my laptop’s trackpad for 3 years, but the minute I bought a wireless mouse the game changed. Now, I wasn’t lugging it to every class, but while I did homework and studying in the library a wireless mouse was so much better than the trackpad. This one from Logitech is really affordable, I’ve had mine for over 2 years and have had no issues.
