Inflation Puts A Damper On ‘Giving Tuesday’
It may not have been well publicized this year, but “Giving Tuesday” occurs annually the week after Thanksgiving. And, like everything else nowadays, inflation has put a serious damper on the amount of “giving” this year.
According to an article posted by Kay McCabe on KTNV.com, those smaller, local non-profit organizations are really feeling the pinch in 2022. Since we are all paying a lot more for just about every item on the grocery shelves, in the clothing stores, at the gas pump, and when visiting any online store, there seems to be less money available to give to those in need this holiday season.
Per McCabe’s article, not only have food and financial donations been more scarce this year for the area’s smaller non-profits, but recruiting volunteers to help out has also been tougher this year.
Even if you are like me, and you missed the chance to pay it forward on “Giving Tuesday” this year, there is still time to help out our local non-profits before the year is over. The holiday season makes us all more aware of our fellow humans, so if you have the opportunity to assist one or more of our community’s charitable organizations and non-profits with financial aid or by volunteering, please do so.
One of the ways I am going to help out is by taking a few “Angel Tags” from Mike & Carla’s Angel Tree in our lobby. My wife and I will be donating brand new toys to some of the needy kids in our community through the Salvation Army of Southern Nevada. See the listicle below for more information on how you can help with this worthy cause.
We hope you and your family have a blessed holiday season.
