It may not have been well publicized this year, but "Giving Tuesday" occurs annually the week after Thanksgiving. And, like everything else nowadays, inflation has put a serious damper on the amount of "giving" this year.

According to an article posted by Kay McCabe on KTNV.com, those smaller, local non-profit organizations are really feeling the pinch in 2022. Since we are all paying a lot more for just about every item on the grocery shelves, in the clothing stores, at the gas pump, and when visiting any online store, there seems to be less money available to give to those in need this holiday season.

Per McCabe's article, not only have food and financial donations been more scarce this year for the area's smaller non-profits, but recruiting volunteers to help out has also been tougher this year.

Even if you are like me, and you missed the chance to pay it forward on "Giving Tuesday" this year, there is still time to help out our local non-profits before the year is over. The holiday season makes us all more aware of our fellow humans, so if you have the opportunity to assist one or more of our community's charitable organizations and non-profits with financial aid or by volunteering, please do so.

One of the ways I am going to help out is by taking a few "Angel Tags" from Mike & Carla's Angel Tree in our lobby. My wife and I will be donating brand new toys to some of the needy kids in our community through the Salvation Army of Southern Nevada. See the listicle below for more information on how you can help with this worthy cause.

We hope you and your family have a blessed holiday season.

Thank You For Helping Mike & Carla Buy Salvation Army’s Angel Tree

It's the season if giving at 96.3 KKLZ

This holiday season, you can make a difference by helping Mike and Carla buy the Salvation Army's Angel Tree!

The dates to drop off toys or picked up tags has passed. However, 2022 is not over yet, and you can still make a difference in a child's life through a few ways. The Mike & Carla Morning Show's Angel Tree can still "grow" even after the official event is over. If you were unable to come into our radio station, you can still spread some holiday merry magic by making a monetary contribution. 96.3 KKLZ and The Salvation Army of Southern Nevada have teamed up for a second year to bring joy this holiday season. We know times can be tough for many families and we want to make their festive season a little brighter.

Below we cover how the The Angel Tree works, where the toys go and different resources for The Salvation Army of Southern Nevada.

Thank you, again, for helping us give back. We couldn't do it without you.

What is the Salvation Army's Angel Tree?

The Salvation Army's Angel Tree program helps provide Christmas and holiday gifts for hundreds of thousands of children around the country each year, according to the organization's website.

Salvation Army acquires the necessary information to then create wish lists for their Angel Tree families. And then it becomes our mission to help buy the toys and fun stuff on the wish lists.

Where Do The Toys Go?

The Salvation Army Southern Nevada will distribute some 4,000 toys and gift cards valued from $10-$30 for nearly 3,000 Christmas Angels ages 17 and under and their families from December 12 - December 16, at The Salvation Army administrative offices, located at 2900 Palomino Lane in Las Vegas.

*Families had to preregister for this event. Registration is now closed, and sign-ups are no longer being accepted.
