And Now For Your Favorite Pies

Cream, fruit, meat – Kool-Aid? Google Trends posted the top pie each state is googling more than other states. They broke them down into five categories. Free or not – enjoy filling your pi(e)hole!

Here’s the full ma.of pie stats.

  • 5. Chocolate/Nut Pies

Four states:  Oreo pie in Georgia and Ohio, and  French silk pie in Iow. In Kentucky – you guessed it. Derby pie in Kentucky.  They’ll eat a lot of it in May around the Kentucky Derby. Duh.

  • 4. Fruit pie

Fruit pies – my faves –  took six states. No surprise that Apple is on top in many states. It is #1 in California, Oregon, Colorado, Wyoming, and right here in NEVADA  Raspberry pie (yum) is #1 in New York.

  • 3. Custard Pies

Custard, or cream pies, toped the list in, 17 states.  Things like Boston cream pie, banana cream, and lemon meringue.  Kool-Aid Pie – yes, I said KOOL-AID pie – is the top search in Tennessee. In Virginia, they just want a slice of old-fashioned vinegar pie. Huh???

  • 2. Savory Pies

Savory pies, took over 18 states. These are more like casseroles, and meals. Things like chicken pot pie in Texas and Alaska, and shepherd’s pie in Massachusetts. A bunch of states in the western half of the U.S. are obsessed with Frito pie. Again, more  of a casserole than a “pie.” It’s actually more like just a bag full of ingredients.

  • 1. Other pies

Other pies – because five states didn’t fit any real category. Honey pie in Wisconsin, sugar pie in Michigan, ricotta cheese pie in Connecticut, peanut butter cheese pie in Alabama –  and fried pie in Arizona. Again I say –  HUH?
