Sensory Inclusive Performance Of ‘Frozen’ At Smith Center
Disney’s hit Broadway musical, Frozen, is coming to The Smith Center for the Performing Arts in Las Vegas, March 8th through the 18th. There will be one very special matinee performance of this Tony Award nominated show on Saturday, March 18th, at 1pm.
This special showing will be a sensory inclusive performance, specifically designed for people with physical, emotional, intellectual, and developmental disabilities. Of course, those without disabilities are also invited to this special performance. In fact, The Smith Center’s website description of this unique performance encourages families to attend together for a more enjoyable visit to the theater.
Per TheSmithCenter.com, the sensory inclusive performance of Frozen “will be modified to address the sensory sensitivities that are often found in children, adolescents, and adults who have a variety of diagnoses including but not limited to: Autism spectrum disorder, Sensory Processing Disorder, ADD/ADHD, intellectual and developmental disabilities, post-traumatic stress disorder, dementia, and Alzheimer’s disease.”
The Smith Center will be making several accommodations for the sensory inclusive performance. They will be relaxing normal theater etiquette rules to allow patrons to enter and leave Reynolds Hall as needed. They will allow cell phones to be used for communication purposes during the performance, although photo-taking will not be allowed. The house light settings will be adjusted differently. There will be quiet areas set up in the lobby for those who might need to take a break from the performance.
They will also be offering a partial refund guarantee up until one hour before showtime for this special performance just in case a visit to the theater on Saturday, March 18th is not in your family’s best interest that particular day.
Tickets for this sensory inclusive performance of Disney’s Frozen range from $20.00-$60.00. CLICK HERE for more information or to purchase tickets. Bravo!
