Holiday Fun At Cosmopolitan Rooftop Ice Rink With The Golden Knights

The holiday season brings plenty of fun family events to Las Vegas. One of the most fun things you can do here in the desert is to go ice skating. And we’re talking about skating outdoors with the neon lights of the Las Vegas Strip to brighten the night sky. Not to mention skating on a rooftop ice rink at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. Additionally, if you can meet and greet some of your favorite Vegas Golden Knights players, then the event sounds even more fun!

Here’s What You Need To Know About The Golden Knights Meet And Greet

The CosmopolitanLasVegas.com website certainly entices one to go skating at The Ice Rink. Even if you don’t don a pair of blades, you can still have plenty of fun. In fact, you can experience their “winter wonderland…with ice skating, fire pits, warm cocktails, s’mores, and breathtaking views.”

With that in mind, you’ll want to bring the entire family to their rooftop ice rink this Sunday, December 3rd. Because, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., you’ll not only have the chance to enjoy some winter fun, but you can also meet some of your favorite Vegas Golden Knights! As a matter of fact, Alec Martinez, Zach Whitecloud, and goalie Adin Hill are scheduled to be on hand. In addition, Chance (team mascot), the Knights Guard, and the Vegas Vivas will be there for all the holiday fun.

Equally important to note is that admission to this event is absolutely free! However, if you’d like to go ice skating on their 4,200 square foot outdoor ice rink, that’ll cost you. Of course, all the delectable items on The Ice Rink menu will cost you too. You should also know that there will be an autograph signing session with the Vegas Golden Knights. The Cosmopolitan website advises you to arrive promptly at 4 p.m. to receive a wristband “leading up to the 5 p.m. signing.” Obviously, there will be a limited number of wristbands handed out. To borrow a phrase from Freddie Mercury and Queen, “We are the champions, my friend.” Well, we aren’t. However, our city’s National Hockey League team, the Vegas Golden Knights, certainly is! So, if you’ve been supporting this Vegas-born team since its inception in 2017, you’ll want to show your pride.

Being that the Golden Knights are the NHL’s 2022-2023 Stanley Cup Champions, I thought I’d browse the internet for some championship gear for the upcoming season. After all, what’s the point of rooting for your favorite team if you can’t boast a little when they win it all?  

Vegas Golden Knights: Quickest Expansion Team To Win A Stanley Cup 

Not only are Las Vegans proud and excited to be able to claim that we live in a championship city, but we can also boast that our team was the quickest expansion team to win a Stanley Cup. 

As a matter of fact, the Vegas Golden Knights sipped champagne from the Cup in their sixth season. Before they accomplished that feat, the Philadelphia Flyers were the quickest NHL expansion team to win a championship. They skated around the ice with Lord Stanley’s trophy in their seventh season. 

Vegas Defends Their Title And Attempts To Repeat

As special as the Golden Knights’ Stanley Cup victory is, I think it’s also pretty amazing they won in their sixth season as management promised. Certainly, that’s unheard of in professional sports. So, now the goal is to successfully defend that title and attempt to repeat the feat. 

Since 1990, only four NHL teams have managed to become repeat champions. The Pittsburgh Penguins, led by future Hall-of-Famers Mario Lemieux and Jaromir Jagr won two straight Stanley Cups in 1991 and 1992. Later that decade, the Detroit Red Wings, captained by Steve Yzerman, recorded consecutive championships in 1997 and 1998. 

Henceforth, during the “Salary Cap Era” which began in 2005-2006, the only teams to win consecutive Stanley Cups are the Pittsburgh Penguins, led by captain Sidney Crosby, in 2016 and 2017. Then, the Tampa Bay Lightning repeated the feat in 2020 and 2021.  

Accordingly, let’s check out what we’ll be wearing when the Vegas Golden Knights attempt to repeat the feat of winning a Stanley Cup championship in consecutive seasons.
