Time is running out for you to get your sweetheart a Valentine’s Day gift to show your love and affection, and many of you will give or receive flowers. So, which are the most impressive flowers and bouquets to gift?

According to an article written by Olivia Hosken and Annie Goldsmith which I found on TownAndCountryMag.com, there are lots of varieties to choose from. I always thought a dozen roses was the classic Valentine’s Day gift, but there are other impressive flowers and bouquets which will also show your sweetheart the depth of your feelings. Some of these in the top 7 I have never even heard of, but they are recommended by these two authors.

Not all Valentine’s Day flowers and bouquets are given as gifts to a spouse or life partner. There are times you may want to let a very good friend know how special they are to you by gifting flowers on February 14th. You may want to let your Mother know how much you love her with a beautiful floral arrangement.

Although flowers and bouquets may not last more than a few days or up to a week, Hosken and Goldsmith remind us: “The right bouquet is striking, sentimental, and can symbolize relationship milestones; the fleeting nature of its beauty reminds you to savor the sight and scent.”

Of course, it is best to note what type of flower your sweetheart loves the most. If you have that information, then you really don’t need these suggestions. But, if you are not sure which type of flower or bouquet to gift this year, here we go with the top 7 recommendations from TownAndCountryMag.com.

They come in a variety of colors to create whatever mood and feeling your looking for. Long-stemmed Calla Lilies would be a sure show-stopper.

  • 6) Alstroemeria

I can’t pronounce it, but it sure is pretty! This flower is a relative of the lily which Hosken and Goldsmith say “possesses a subtle scent your loved one will adore.” Can’t go wrong here.

  • 5) Pink Tulips

Once again, a flower which comes in many different colors. Each color comes with it’s own meaning. According to the authors, pink tulips “are meant to symbolize care and affection.” A perfect gift for your one true love.

  • 4) White Lilies

A big bouquet of cheerful sunflowers would bring a big smile to your Mom or best friend on Valentine’s Day. Heck, why not buy a bouquet for yourself to cheer up your home or office. You deserve it!

  • 2) Purple Orchids

    Purple Orchids

Purple orchids are delicate, exotic, and best of all, if you buy them as a potted plant instead of as a bouquet, “they can last for years, blooming each spring as special reminder of your relationship” according to the TownAndCountryMag.com article.

  • 1) Red Roses

Last, but certainly not least, the classic Valentine’s Day bouquet for that special someone. You just can’t go wrong with a dozen long-stemmed red roses. The authors suggest mixing in some pink roses which signify poetic love and admiration. Happy Valentine’s Day!
