3 Reasons We’re Excited About The New “A League Of Their Own” Series

It's been over two years in the making, but tomorrow we will finally get the first episode of the new show. Based on the original 1992 movie of the same name, the "A League Of Their Own" series is premiering tomorrow night through Amazon Prime Video. The reboot was announced in 2020 and now fans will get to see what they've been waiting for. The series, like the original movie, will focus on the Rockford Peaches. A real team from Rockford, Illinois that played in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League in the early 1940s. Of course we know from the original film (and our history books) that the league came around when men were off fighting in World War II. The trailer for the "A League Of Their Own Series" showed the show will follow the same Rockford Peaches, but with a whole new cast of characters. First we have Carson Shaw (played by Abbi Jacobson) trying to join the league but getting some discouragement from other potential players. Next, the trailer show two young Black women who are turned away in a frustrating, yet period-accurate, reality of the "All-American" sport in 1943. One of these women is Max Chapman (played by Chante Adams) who is disheartened after being rejected at tryouts. The trailer shows some of her journey to finding another way to play. Including getting a job as a welder to play on an all-male team. As the pitcher, no less. So it seems the "A League Of Their Own" series will have a healthy balance of comedy and drama. As we follow these new characters through their unique trials to follow their dreams. And there seems, from the trailer, that there will be a lot of focus on the team's independence as they fight the rules imposed upon them. And here are three things that we're MOST excited about for this new series. –Wendy Rush, 96.3KKLZ Las Vegas
