Friendliest Pet Cities In America: 3 Southern Nevada Cities In Top 25
You may not consider Las Vegas to be a friendly city when it comes to human relations. However, Sin City ranks as one of the top five most pet friendly cities in America!
How They Determine America’s Most Pet Friendly City Rankings
At first, I thought I misread this 2023 study conducted by WalletHub.com. Especially because we are in the middle of a long hot summer in Southern Nevada. The reminders are consistent every summer about keeping our pets indoors during really hot weather. In addition, we should never keep them locked up in a car. Moreover, if the sidewalk is too hot for a human to walk barefoot, then its too hot for your pet’s paws.
With all this in mind, it is hard to believe that Las Vegas ranks at number four in the 2023 survey. But, then I saw the metrics they used in determining the USA’s most pet friendly cities.
As an illustration, out of a possible score of 100, 25 points are based on “pet budget” items such as veterinary costs and pet insurance. Secondly, 25 points go towards “pet friendliness” things such as weather, pet parks and pet trails. Finally, a whopping 50 points is awarded on “pet health and wellness” factors like veterinarians per capita, pet caretakers per capita, pet friendly restaurants per capita, and so on.
Three Southern Nevada Cities Make The Top 25
America’s 100 largest cities are included in the 2023 WalletHub.com survey. Not only does Las Vegas rank fourth in the nation, but North Las Vegas comes in at number 11. Additionally, Henderson also makes the top 25 most pet friendly cities, holding the number 23 position.
Subsequently, I bet you’re wondering which American cities beat out Las Vegas. Specifically, Scottsdale, Arizona, Tampa, Florida, and St. Petersburg, Florida rank at number one, two, and three, respectively.
Furthermore, WalletHub.com considers Baltimore, Maryland the least pet friendly city in the nation. Laredo, Texas, Durham, North Carolina, Santa Ana, California, and Dallas, Texas round out the bottom five on the list.
