Las Vegans don’t like traveling far from their homes if they don’t have to. And if it’s summer time don’t even bother to ask them to step away from the fan.

The Vegas strip is inundated with tourists, parking fees and high dining prices. Freemont isn’t as bad if you can adjust to the smell of BO, limited parking and unsettling beings that walk the streets. But what about the rest of Vegas? Well there is more to the city for those of us who may not know. Vegas encompasses more than just partying till 5 a.m., gambling and pretty showgirls.

Our friends at Yahoo.com conducted a survey with the goal to find the most underrated attractions in each of the 50 U.S. states. There is rich history that lives in this city’s veins and this next stop flashes back to some of those key moments.

You may have already guessed it but the non-profit 501 (c)3 organization, Neon Museum, was honored in this survey. According to NeonMuseum.org, the museum was founded in 1996 is kept alive by private sectors and government entities to collect and preserve old Las Vegas signs. The iconic spot features the outdoor showcase Neon Boneyard which houses around 250 unrestored signs and a few restored signs that are lit up on a moving forward trail.

The museum stores these signs as a way to conduct research, educate the public and to maintain Vegas history in present times.

The space is available for weddings, photo shoots and more. Appointments are required. The museum hosts theme nights and tickets tend to sell out. Purchasing in advanced is not required but recommended.
