CHATEAU-THIERRY, FRANCE – MAY 25: A World War I-era cannon stands in a clearing in Belleau Wood, where 100 years before U.S. soldiers, many of them marines, repelled repeated assaults from a German advance only 60 miles from Paris, on May 25, 2018 near Chateau-Thierry, France. Called the Battle of Belleau Wood, the engagement is central to the lore of the U.S. Marines. The U.S. suffered approximately 10,000 casualties at the battle, including nearly 2,000 dead. A ceremony at the nearby Aisne-Marne American cemetery on May 27, on Memorial Day, will commemorate the 100th anniversary of the battle. (Photo by Sean Gallup/Getty Images)

Two men from Louisiana tried to smuggle $200,000 of drugs to a federal prison, but not the traditional way, they used a cannon.

They Used A What?

Two Louisiana teenagers, one 19-years-old and the other 18-years-old got caught smuggling drugs into a federal prison, in Louisiana.

Instead of trying to sneak the drugs into the prison during a visit or trying to hide it somewhere, the two teens used another method that involved using a cannon. The teens intended originally to shoot about $112,000 worth of tobacco and about $90,000 of meth over the security fence and wall. They hoped it would land in the prison grounds where inmates would be able to grab it.

Caught You!

According to KALB, Jose Munoz, 18 and Angel Gutierrez, 19, both from Greeley, Colorado, were arrested before they could even fire the cannon. It was reported that an observant deputy spotted the two before they able to fire the cannon.

When you think of a canon, you're probably thinking of one of the World War cannons with giant wood wheels that launch huge cannon balls. Luckily it wasn't one of those. That would have been way more dangerous. The cannon they apparently used was a 19th Century cannon. The cannon is capable of launching items over 350 feet. The cannon was apparently purchases and assembled by the two teens.

The two were arrested for attempting to introduce contraband into a penal institution as well as attempting to distribute methamphetamine.

Assisting in the arrest was the U.S. immigration and customs enforcement, also known as ICE. Munoz currently has a detainer on him because he is in this country illegally. Luckily no one was hurt and no contraband was distributed because of the incident.
