Man Climbs Mountains With A Refrigerator On His Back
Did you hear about this man in the United Kingdom who recently climbed up and down mountains with a refrigerator strapped to his back? Why would anyone want to do this? He did it for charity.
38-year-old Michael Copeland is a former soldier who wanted to bring attention to, and raise money for, the mental health charity Mind. He completed the three-mountain challenge in under 24 hours last week, scaling the three highest mountains in England, Scotland, and Wales. And, he did it all with a refrigerator strapped to his back. This guy is definitely in good shape.
According to an article written by Andy Corbley on GoodNewsNetwork.org, Copeland had a difficult time reintegrating back into normal society after retiring from the military. This is something that is very common for those who spend many years serving their country. He attributes his exercise discipline as one of the major reasons he has been able to achieve some sense of normalcy.
He wasn’t always a mountain climber either. He picked up that “hobby” during the COVID-19 lockdowns in the United Kingdom. He just had to get outdoors and do something that required energy and discipline to stay sane.
He faced some treacherous conditions while performing this amazing feat. Freezing temperatures, heavy rain, high winds, a foot of snow on the peak of one mountain. And remember, he accomplished all this in less than 24 hours, with a refrigerator strapped to his back! Don’t believe it? Pretty impressive stuff. It’s perfect timing for this story because May is National Health Awareness Month here in the United States.
