Former Vegas Golden Knight Wanted A Fight And Almost Got One

Marc-Andre Fleury was sent to Las Vegas during the NHL expansion draft.  Immediately, he became the face of the Vegas Golden Knights franchise. Everyone loved him, even if he performed poorly in some games.

While playing in Las Vegas, there were a few times he taunted the opposing teams goalie to fight, but neither Fleury or the Vegas fans were given that opportunity.

You fast forward to now, and he is no longer a Vegas Golden Knight. He now plays for the Minnesota Wild. Thriving there as an older goalie, he has gained a whole new fan base who loves him there.

Last night, the Minnesota Wild took on the St. Louis Blues, another team Vegas has ties too, taking two key players from their line-up. The two teams faced off in St. Louis. In the second period with about 7:35 left, the Wild scored a goal, making the score five to four. Nothing was wrong with the goal, Jordan Binnington, the goalie for the St. Louis Blues clearly misread the play and the puck went in the back of the net. It wasn't that goal that made him upset, it was Blues player, Ryan Hartman who scored then went to celebrate with is teammates. During the celebration, he apparently hit Binnington. That set him off, causing Binnington to hit Hartman in the crotch and face with his stick . He then attacked Hartman!

From 200 ft. across the ice, Marc-Andre Fleury knew it was his duty to take care of the situation, goalie vs. goalie! Fleury pulls his mask and charges towards Binnington to get a piece of him! We all love scrums and fights in hockey, but when you get a goalie fight, it's something we all could only wish for! Before Fleury could get a hand on Binnington, the referee's immediately noticed it and stopped both goalies from going at it!

Fleury mentions wanting to win a Stanley Cup, score a goalie goal, and be in a fight, during a recent interview. Well he almost check marked a second thing on that list!
