This was another blockbuster produced by the team of Jerry Bruckheimer and Don Simpson. It ended up third at the box office for the entire year. Superstar actor and comedian Eddie Murphy reprised his role at Detective Axel Foley in a film directed by Tony Scott, who had directed the blockbuster Top Gun the previous year. The movie would go on to earn an Academy Award and Golden Globe award nomination for Best Original Song for the Bob Seger single “Shakedown.” Here’s the original movie trailer.
