Today is a national day that doesn’t get enough recognition. National Bikini Day! With the blazing summer season here it’s never been a more perfect time to show off your “Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini.”
Living in Las Vegas, we know all about hot temperatures and cooling off which means more skin and less clothes. Bikinis come in all shapes and sizes and so we thought we would share a variety of colors, one-pieces and two-pieces to celebrate the national holiday.
According to History.com, the first two-piece bikini was designed by a guy named Louis Reard on July 5, 1946. Reard crafted the famous suit at the Piscine Molitor which is “a popular swimming pool in Paris.” The two-piece swimwear can be dated back centuries beforehand but the 1930’s set the conversation during the World War II era. Now, the two-piece set wasn’t coined as bikini just yet but it revolutionized what we know it as today. The word bikini came from U.S. atomic bomb testing newscast about Bikini Atoll which is a coral reef in the Marshall Islands.
Our digital team gathered empowering strong women who are living life to the fullest… and looking good in their bikini while doing it! From actresses, models and famous singers we found women of all shapes and sizes who make National Bikini Day extra special.
If you’re feeling up for it, throw on your favorite bikini and bask in the glory of National Bikini Day.
