Mother’s Day 2023 is right around the corner, this Sunday, May 14th. I am very thankful that my Mom, Janny, is still rockin’ it at 90-years young.
My Dad passed away when I was 14, and my youngest of three sisters was 9. My Mom had to raise all four of us on a medical secretary’s salary. I think she did a fantastic job. Sure, she made mistakes along the way. There isn’t a Mom out there who wouldn’t like a “do-over” on a decision or two. But, looking back, I have a lot of respect for how she managed it all on her own.
We should all have something nice planned to honor and celebrate our mothers. She raised us, sacrificed for us, put up with our nonsense, and gave us direction in life. You don’t have to get her an extravagant gift, although she may like that. But you should make sure your Mom knows that you love and respect her for all she has done for you.
This also gives us the opportunity to point out some rock and pop stars from the 80s who have become great (we hope) mothers. I’m sure there are more than just the seven we listed below. Heck, your Mom might have been rockin’ out to the music from some of these recording starts during the MTV decade while she was raising you.
So, feel free to scroll down and check out seven of the biggest hit-making Moms of the 1980s. You probably won’t be surprised who takes the #1 position, but we thank all of these rockin’ Moms for giving us the gift of awesome music!
