I especially enjoy watching comedy films. There’s nothing better than having a big laugh to relieve stress and bring joy to life. There are at least five hilarious movie scenes that come to my mind where film stars sing big hits. Maybe you can think of a few more.

To be honest, I have no idea if the movie stars featured in the list below have good singing voices or not. Or, maybe after seeing them in the hilarious movie scenes in which they’re filmed singing, we do know a little bit about their voices.

Of course, there have been great singers who have starred in movies down through the years. For instance, there’s Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, and Judy Garland, just to name a few.

And obviously, the 1980’s and 1990’s gave us some fantastic movie soundtracks. Flashdance, Footloose, Purple Rain, Dirty Dancing, and The Bodyguard are some prime examples.

Movies and music have been intertwined ever since silent movies gave way to “talkies.” In fact, some of the most memorable songs of all time come from popular movies.

Hilarious Movie Scenes Featuring Stars Who Aren’t Great Singers

However, how many instances can you think of where big movie stars sang big hit songs, and made you laugh out loud? That’s the essence of this particular list of hilarious movie scenes that came to my mind.

I’m sure there are more movie scenes like the ones listed below that you could come up with if you gave it some thought. But the ones I’ve pointed out are the most memorable to me.

So, go ahead and watch the movie trailers from the five movies in the list below. That way, you’ll be familiar with the plots just in case you haven’t seen any of them in a while.

Then, be sure to click on the links I’ve included so you can watch the hilarious movie scenes where huge film stars sing big hits. Enjoy!

  • Eddie Murphy Sings 'Roxanne' By The Police In '48 Hours'

He became a household name as one of the great performers on Saturday Night Live. Then, he became a huge movie star in films like the the buddy action-comedy 48 Hours, co-starring Nick Nolte. Eddie Murphy is certainly one of the great comic actors of our time, and he has the box office receipts to prove it. And before he had the huge hit “Party All The Time” in the mid-80s, we watched and heard him covering the song “Roxanne” by The Police in this scene from 48 Hours:

  • Julia Roberts Sings 'Kiss' By Prince In 'Pretty Woman'

After co-starring in the 1980’s films Mystic Pizza and Steel Magnolias, Julia Roberts was catapulted into superstardom in the 1990 romantic comedy Pretty Woman. She plays “a hooker with a heart of gold” alongside her co-star, Richard Gere, who portrays a rich business tycoon. And, during one memorable scene when Julia Roberts is taking a bubble bath in a luxury hotel bathtub, she’s caught singing along with the Prince song “Kiss,” which she’s listening to on her Walkman:

  • Chris Farley Sings 'Maniac' By Michael Sembello In 'Tommy Boy'

Comedic actor Chris Farley was making audiences laugh with his hilarious characters on Saturday Night Live during the early 1990’s before being cast in the movie Airheads in 1994. Then in 1995, he co-starred with David Spade in the comedy Tommy Boy. There are certainly plenty of funny scenes in this movie, but the one that stands out when it comes to movies and music, is this one. Chris Farley performs “Maniac” from the film Flashdance, as only he can:

  • Will Ferrell Sings 'Something To Talk About' By Bonnie Raitt In 'Step Brothers'

Forgive me if you’re not a fan of Will Ferrell movies, but I love almost all of them. He and actor John C. Reilly are one of film’s best comedy teams in recent movie history, in my humble opinion. To each his own, I guess. In Step Brothers, Will Ferrell’s character Brennan fashions himself as an amazing singer. I’ll never comprehend why he chooses to sing the Bonnie Raitt smash “Something To Talk About,” but his version is hilarious. There are so many quotable lines in this movie, and there are quite a few good quotes in this scene too:

  • Jon Lovitz Sings 'Ladies Night' By Kool And The Gang In 'The Wedding Singer'

Well, except for Julia Roberts, all of these hilarious covers of big hits in movie comedies that I’ve listed come from former members of Saturday Night Live. Here’s another one, from one of my favorite movies about the 1980’s, The Wedding Singer. Adam Sandler portrays New Jersey wedding singer Robbie Hart. Not only does this romantic comedy have one of the best compilation soundtracks of great 80s songs, it also has quite a few cast members covering big radio hits. There are actually too many to mention in this film, but to me, the one that steals the show comes from former SNL cast member, Jon Lovitz. He plays a competing wedding singer in this hilarious audition and rendition of the Kool & The Gang classic, “Ladies Night.”
