The Dollar Loan Center held a very entertaining and galactic Star Wars concert to honor May 4 in it’s true glory. Star Wars fanatics showed up dressed in their favorite character cosplay, onesie, t-shits and accessories as they piled into the newly opened arena.
The arena was playing “Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back” which is the second movie in the film franchise. And for those of us who may not follow the space opera religiously, by second we mean fourth because the series started with four, five and six. The arena took Star Wars to the next level with cardboard cut-outs, character meet n greets, merch tables and more!
A 7’5″ wookiee who goes by Chewy was roaming the floors and R2D2 was hanging out with jedi-in-training, Luke Skywalker. The Rebel Alliance was on the prowl ready to meet as many fans who crossed their path.
The food vendors were in on the extravaganza with themed character plates that would make any Wampa hungry. The arena offered dishes like:
Obi-Wan Macaroni: 3 Cheese mac with grilled chicken, topped with neon green pesto.
7 Leia, Darth Taters: Tater tots topped with, refried beans, pico de gallo, sour cream, ground beef, cheese sauce and guacamole.
Steak Ka-Boba Fet: Charbroiled steak and vegatable skewer with chimichurri over pesto cous cous.
The full Henderson Symphony Orchestra was conducted by Alexandria Arrieche. Music was by John Williams.
The HSO took off into outer space by playing the 20th Century FOX introduction which sounded as if it was a perfect sound bite. Fans were immediately impressed with the orchestra’s sophistication, ease and confidence which blead throughout the entire production.
The movie was 124 minutes long with a short 10 minute intermission in-between. The venue was filled with clapping and cheers during key points in the film.
If you have a chance to see Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back LIVE, we definitely recommend it.
