McDonald’s New Collector’s Meal Comes With Some Serious Nostalgia
McDonald’s new Collector’s Meal is going to bring back some fond memories. The latest meal comes with some collectible cups they hope will inspire a new generation of fans.
The nostalgic promotion begins on August 13 and will run for a limited time. Each meal will come with one of six cups featuring iconic imagery of some of your favorite McDonald’s collectibles from the past.

Over the years, McDonald’s has had some amazing promotions. Unfortunately, some of them ended with a bit of legal and ethical problems. We’re looking at you, McDonald’s Monopoly Game. Such a bummer because that was so much fun to play and truly got me into a store just about every day. I wanted those prizes!
According to Food & Wine, the cups that come with the Collector’s Meal will be one of: Beanie Babies; Barbie & Hot Wheels; Hello Kitty & Peanuts; Shrek, Jurassic Park, & Minions; Coca-Cola Logo; or the iconic McDonald’s Logo. The McDonald’s logo might sound a bit redundant but it makes sense because to many people the two brands go hand-in-hand. Coke fans pretty much all agree the best Coke you can get is a Coke from a McDonald’s fountain. There’s something different about them and they taste so much better. The companies have been working together since inking a deal back in 1955, per Food & Wine.
Besides that cup, the rest of the cups will represent the most popular collectibles distributed by McDonald’s over the years. Back in 1997, people lined up out the door to get their hands on the Teenie Beanies that came as a Happy Meal toy. There was crazy demand for them! A similar thing happened with original Barbie figurines and Hot Wheels cars and they had to re-release them several times to keep up with demand. Some of these can even score an impressive sum of money on the secondary market, according to Food & Wine.
Food & Wine points out that this Collector’s Meal is different from many other Meal Deals and promotions at McDonald’s because it’s available any time of day–including their one-of-a-kind breakfast. Seriously, it can’t be beat. Other fast-food chains try hard, but they just can’t do it like the Golden Arches. Depending on when you visit, your combo meal will either include a Sausage Egg McMuffin, Hash Brown, and coffee during breakfast hours or a 10-piece Chicken McNuggets or Big Mac with fries and a drink during lunch/dinner hours, per Food & Wine. This comes at a time when fast-food chains are getting creative, trying to bring customers back. Places like McDonald’s, Taco Bell, Burger King, and even Sonic have started value menus recently trying to help customers save a buck. Will it work? Only time will tell. For now, this nostalgic Collector’s Meal will be a cool promotion.
