Time just released the latest issue of its world-famous magazine. And one of Las Vegas’s newest stars landed on the cover.
The latest issue of Time Magazine covers Time’s list of the 200 Best Inventions of 2023. And wouldn’t you know it? Our Las Vegas Sphere is right there on the cover. Subtitled “The 200 Extraordinary Innovations Changing Our Lives”, the magazine cover was posted on Time’s Twitter page. With a little extra love from the animation department.

Time Magazine releases a new list every year. And to pick the finalists, Time takes suggestions from all over the globe. Then they look at key factors to consider for judging. Including originality, efficacy, ambition, and impact. Check, check, check and check. The Las Vegas Sphere had originality in the bag before the first foundation was ever laid. It’s the largest spherical structure in the world. And other countries are already on board to duplicate it. In fact, a sphere in London was supposed to be in the works just after ours opened, but has since been delayed, euronews.com reported.
And when it comes to ambition, the work that went into the Las Vegas Sphere was riddled with it. After almost double the $1.2 billion anticipated cost, and seven years of planning and building, the Sphere doors finally opened this month. Not only is it the largest sphere in the world, but it’s also the world’s largest LED screen, at 366 feet tall on the outside (time.com). And when it comes to the efficacy and impact of the Sphere…well just ask anyone who has seen the Sphere up close.
Listed in the “Otherworldly Entertainment” category, Time wrote that when the Sphere first lit up in July of this year, “it was like something out of a sci-fi movie” (time.com). Time says its list of inventions include the things they believe were changing the way we think about what’s possible.
