That One Item You Kept That Belong To Your Parents
After our parents pass away, we all go through that inventory of things they’ve left behind. So, what is that one item you kept that belong to your parents? That’s…

A rolling pin is something your parents might leave you.

Carla Rea helped out a friend having an "estate" sale over the weekend. It came to Carla's attention that clearly all parents must have shopped at the same store. They all seem to have the same stuff.
What Is That One Thing You Kept Of Your Parents
But as you go through everything, what is the one item that you still have to this day? For Carla, it was a credenza that was very retro that held bottles of wine and glasses.
Now Legacy.com had a great article and listed some awesome family heirlooms. Of course, not everything we mentioned would be considered an heirloom, but good reading.
Mike O'Brian mentioned that from he's mom, he kept the sugar bowl he gave to her as a Christmas gift growing up. And from his dad, he kept a jacket he used to wear all the time.
It's funny what things mean to you or why they mean anything to us after they pass. A sugar bowl, a jacket, a credenza all mean something for whatever reason. They are a memory that has stuck with you.
It's a piece of your past that still connects you to that person who has passed. To keep it, to have it in your possession is just a small way to stay in touch with that person.
We found out that The M&C Morning Show weren't the only ones who have something. And keep in mind, it doesn't have to be anything expensive or rare. Just something that reminds you of that person.
One listener mentioned a rolling pin! It was as simple as that...a rolling pin! Could be a collection of spoons...and you don't even use them anymore. A lot of women texted in saying that their mom's cookbook was a treasured item in the family.
Whatever it is or was, big or small, it meant something enough to keep it. Listen to the segment from this morning and see if you don't agree...and enjoy!
Mother’s Day: 7 Rockin’ Moms Of The 80s We All Know And Love
Mother's Day 2023 is right around the corner, this Sunday, May 14th. I am very thankful that my Mom, Janny, is still rockin' it at 90-years young.
My Dad passed away when I was 14, and my youngest of three sisters was 9. My Mom had to raise all four of us on a medical secretary's salary. I think she did a fantastic job. Sure, she made mistakes along the way. There isn't a Mom out there who wouldn't like a "do-over" on a decision or two. But, looking back, I have a lot of respect for how she managed it all on her own.
We should all have something nice planned to honor and celebrate our mothers. She raised us, sacrificed for us, put up with our nonsense, and gave us direction in life. You don't have to get her an extravagant gift, although she may like that. But you should make sure your Mom knows that you love and respect her for all she has done for you.
This also gives us the opportunity to point out some rock and pop stars from the 80s who have become great (we hope) mothers. I'm sure there are more than just the seven we listed below. Heck, your Mom might have been rockin' out to the music from some of these recording starts during the MTV decade while she was raising you.
So, feel free to scroll down and check out seven of the biggest hit-making Moms of the 1980s. You probably won't be surprised who takes the #1 position, but we thank all of these rockin' Moms for giving us the gift of awesome music!
