We found it very easy to go through the TSA Precheck enrollment process. Photo shows a male traveler cruising through the TSA Precheck line at Miami International Airport in 2016.

My wife and I had heard from some friends of ours that getting their TSA Precheck® documentation was very easy. Not to mention how much time it saves at Harry Reid International Airport, and other airports around the nation.

Here’s How Easy It Was To Get Our TSA Precheck® Documentation

So, last month, my wife and I decided to check this TSA Precheck® out for ourselves. My wife’s sister has her credentials. Friends of ours also recently received theirs. Everyone who has them has told us how easy it was.

Basically, you just go to the TSA Precheck website to learn all about the process. If you scroll down on their home page, you’ll see two different companies which handle the process.

When we did it, we went with the first company that showed up on our internet search. So, we went with Telos. They’re a bit more expensive than the other company which handles this process, Idemia. Either one will get it done.

It took us about 20-30 minutes to complete the enrollment application online. We were also able to set up our appointment for the in-person enrollment. There are several locations listed on the website from which to choose so you don’t have to travel very far.

Then, a couple of weeks later, we arrived at our appointment about 10 minutes early at the Office Max on West Charleston in Summerlin. If there’s no one ahead of you, you can probably get through the in-person enrollment in about 15 minutes.

We made sure we had the appropriate documentation. For us, it was our valid U.S. passports and our marriage license. If you don’t have a passport, there is a list of other types of documentation which will work for you.

We paid the $85 charge at the end of the in-person enrollment process on that particular Saturday afternoon. On Monday, we began receiving texts and emails from Telos letting us know our applications were being reviewed.

On Tuesday, we received email notifications that our applications had been approved. On Wednesday, we clicked the links in our respective emails to get our Known Traveler Numbers for future air travel. It was as simple as that!

Why Getting Your TSA Precheck® Is Worth The Time And Expense

In total, we spent about 25 minutes online filling out our applications. Then, about 30 minutes at the enrollment location.

Finally, a few more minutes getting our Known Traveler Numbers online. Plus, the $85 dollar registration fee for each of our applications. That’s it.

So now, when we fly out of Harry Reid International Airport here in Las Vegas, we’ll get to cruise through the security checkpoint in just a few minutes.

In fact, the website claims about 99% of TSA Precheck® passengers get through security in under 10 minutes. Pretty cool.

In addition, we won’t have to remove our shoes, belts, or light jackets. Plus, we can keep laptops in their carrying cases, and 3-1-1 liquids in our carry-ons as well.

There are over 200 airports and 90 airlines which honor TSA Precheck® credentials. To get started with your application process, click here.
