An American man made an emergency visit to his doctors after his worsening migraines flared up, caused by parasitic tapeworms in his brain, due to uncooked bacon.

That Bacon Seems Undercooked

The 52-year-old American man went to his local doctors after he noticed his normal migraines he suffered from, they were getting worse and worse. The issue occurred over a period of four months. It got so bad that his medications for his migraines stopped working.

He was immediately admitted to the hospital for more tests. They took CT scans of the mans brain and found fluid-filled sacs around his brain, according to NBC News. The medical term for this is cystic foci. The test results were sent back and he was diagnosed with neurocysticercosis. It's the medical term for parasitic tissue that was infection caused by larva cysts of the pork tapeworm. It's found in the brain, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Doctors eliminated all options of how he could contract the pearceites. Later, doctors learned he loves to eat bacon that is lightly cooked. He's been eating it like this the majority of his lifetime. They found this was the only cause of the neurocysticercosis along with him not washing his hands properly after touching the bacon.

The Cure

The patient was immediately treated with medications to fight the parasites and inflammation. After treatment started, the lesions in his brains started to lessen, causing his headaches to get better. According to the NBC News article, doctors told them it's very rare for people to contract these parasites in America. But it's possible through non-traditional causes. According to the CDC, the disease can obviously be fatal if not treated properly or ignored.

Safe to say this man will most likely stop eating bacon all together or he'll cook his bacon longer now.

The Best Bacon Dishes In Las Vegas

Move over, people! THIS is the day we've been waiting for. It's National Bacon Day! Can we use this day to just talk about the most amazing food ever created. I mean, seriously. Why. Is. Bacon. So. Gooooood?!? We can't figure it out. But I'm willing to bet that this edible gold is the reason many people don't go full vegetarian. It's just too good. From wrapping our veggies in it to throwing it in our martinis, we'll find ANY reason to consume this heavenly food.

Even our idioms about the stuff comes with high regard. Did you know the phrase "bring home the bacon" actually isn't about someone bringing home a paycheck? I know. I was surprised too. No, it comes from an English town called Dunmow, circa the twelfth century. There was a church in that town that promised a reward to any married man who agreed not to fight with his wife for a year. Want to guess what that reward was? You got it. Bacon. (baconscouts.com).

But we can thank the Chinese for learning the art of actually making the bacon. Around 1500 B.C. they were curing pork bellies with salt. Some people say that the Romans and Greeks were learning the craft around the same time.

And when we're teaching our kids about Christopher Columbus sailing the ocean blue in 1492, we should be paying homage to the man for bringing pigs to the continent. He wasn't the only one, but he was one of the first. Let's make a song for that, why don't we?
